this and that (unusuals, the wire, eReaders)

There are like a DOZEN shows out there that look like they match my interests. Hundreds of episodes unwatched. Why did I have to fall for the one that was cancelled three years ago after only ten episodes?
Whyyyyyy?

note: shows to check out next now that Leverage is finished: Farscape, Elementary, Hustle. And Chuck season 5 (I'm actually still unspoiled for the finale so I should maybe watch that one first...)

But right now I'm rewatching The Wire and The Unusuals because feelings. Was planning on only watching season three of The Wire, but so much of it is setup for season four! (On a side note, now that I read that crossover between the two shows for Yuletide Madness, I'd kind of love to read a long one, with case plot...)
Btw, anyone know of good meta that also references real events and people in Baltimore? I'm wondering if anything like Colvin's secret Hamsterdam project actually happened.

I'm now proud owner of a Kindle. I got the cheapest one that does little more than display text, but it should be sufficient. (Except it would be handy if it could delete files, but I think I have to do that via computer, which is inconvenient.) I already downloaded and read a bunch of stories from AO3 and so far I'm very happy with it. I think I'll still print out my favorites for re-reading but I love how quick I can grab and save stuff.

We have snow! Everything looks bright even with the sun not shining, and I finally got to dust off my skis. Guy at the xerox place said it was the first time he'd seen someone come by on skis. :)

Lower your expectations for Chuck S5, and you should be fine. If you like Morgan, you'll love the show. And Jeffster is the best part about the whole season. :)

'Grats on the new Kindle! If you hit the left button on the 5-way selector, that should let you delete the book from the Kindle itself, if it's anything like mine.

Hm. I do like Morgan. (Found him really annoying in the beginning but I like what they did with the character; that they actually allowed him to grow instead of staying a perpetual man-child.)

Thanks for the Kindle advice, I'll try that!

I liked that they let the character grow, too. I was a little less thrilled about him getting more and more screentime to the detriment of Chuck and Sarah (in my opinion, he overpowers season four, and does his level best to repeat the gesture in season five), which is why I asked. But if you like him, season five should be a blast.

And no problem. It was a happy day the day I figured out I didn't have to delete ebooks from my computer, especially since I read a lot of fic but don't want to keep that fic.

Thumbs up for Farscape. Let me know what you think of Elementary.

Love my Kindle!!! I'll second what frea_o said about the left side of the 5 way selector. That will remove it from your device. But it will always be in your archives so you can delete it if you want to read it again. (This is assuming you bought said files from Amazon. If you got them elsewhere, then they will be permanently deleted.)

Yep, I tested the 5 way thing and that worked, no problem. :)

I'm only using it for fic so far. Still not ready to let go of paperback books.

Yes, Chuck S5 can go first and then you've got it out of the way. It was a letdown after S4, but it wasn't wholly bad. There were some really cool and some really funny parts in it.

I have just (finally!!!) finished Farscape, and it has reminded me how extremely great that show was. It was so over-the-top in so many aspects - the sex, the wack, the yuck. The love. The pain! The sex stuff never bothered me because it was as overblown as the rest of it, so it just came out to one well-rounded amazing whole. Have you not seen any of it? Then you really should get on that. (And don't be discouraged by the popcorn-movie-style first season!)

I like Elementary, too, btw. That one's still early enough to catch the fandom - there is lots. It looks like about 10% of Sherlock fandom stuck with it, and that's still a lot. :)
