Paddleboard Pics
Oh man, it's been half a year since I last posted here. There are so many distractions. I'll see if I can change that and be a bit more present here.

Anyway, this year I fullfilled a longtime dream of mine and got a paddleboard... they're making them inflatable now, so being carless is no longer an issue. I've spent a considerable part of my free time this year on various rivers in the area, and here are some photos. I hope they can convey some of the beauty and joy you get while paddling.

I plan to go tomorrow as well... been keeping my eye on the outside temps and water levels and it's looking promising. :)

Where is this? This terrain is beautiful!

This is Westphalia, but from an unusual perspective. I've been living here for decades and I'm only now seeing this side of it. I had no idea you could find such gorgeous spots here, most of them reachable by city bus.

They also put a lot of effort into re-naturing measures for one of the rivers, which was cut and turned more or less into a canal a hundred years ago... caused a lot of long-term problems like flooding so now there are plans to revert as much of that as possibe. Really bore fruits around here; it's beautiful and you can see a lot of rare animals.

What gorgeous photos! Thank you for sharing them.

You're so welcome, I love to share these!

Don't blame you. It looks like an enjoyable, peaceful pastime.

Thanks! I took so many pics this year, it's hard to pic just a selection and not spam y'all with hundreds of river photos. :D

I believe you. I took about 1001 of the wilds of Portland

Great photos! And -- welcome back to LJ!

Thank you. Feels good to be back. I feel like tumblr and twitter are slowly losing their appeal so I really want to try and get more active here again.

Wooow, those pics are awesome. I'm always a bit envious of your outdoor activities. (I'm too lazy, I guess. ;))

I can only recommend it! I don't know which region you live in, but for example in my city you can rent a canoe for like 5 Euro an hour. I know some people who don't have a boat but rent one on occasion.

Very nice!!! thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you like them :)

Yesterday I had to hack a hole into the ice with my paddles to get out of the river. That was new. :)
