fan art: I've been wanting to draw an underwater scene forever, and I was inspired by [info]cesperanza's story The Wheel, Atlantis, Wars, And So On, in which our heroes get transformed into... well:

(the larger pic has a more greenish tinge which is actually closer to what the original looks like, at least on my monitor. I'm not sure which of the two I like better.)

Which of course reminds me of the first ever Atlantis story I've read, way back when I wasn't watching the show at all but [info]lost_erizo mentioned a story featuring penguins: Pygoscelis (Or, a Gift of Pebbles) by Leah
snippet: And Zelenka watched in open-mouthed astonishment, as two small penguins appeared where Dr. McKay and the major had been. The slightly shorter one gave a loud, angry *honk*, then immediately pinched the taller penguin in the neck with its beak, while slapping it repeatedly with its flippers. The taller penguin squawked, then yanked itself out of the other penguin's beak, and fled from the room, the shorter penguin in hot, waddling pursuit.

They were surprisingly fast.

Okay, let's see if I can get this posted before that [bleeep] computer shuts down again... it was fine all the days at the shop, and now again with the crashing. At least by now I got to save all my data.

Oh, I love this! The diffusion of light through the water is so skillful. And the dolphins are Teh Cuteness. :D

(I'm making a couple of zip files with the b&w art reduced to 81/2x11 to send to you. Hope you get them!)

I can't say why, but out of the drawings, I have seen of yours. Have the drawings who had water in them, been those I have liked most.

This is awesome. The light and the hint of waves omes across great, and the dolphins are adorable-

Aww, I love this. Especially the way the light falls to the bottom. And the way you drew Atlantis in the top border, is brilliant!

I admit, I'm kinda proud of that idea. :)

Wow! This is gorgeous! I love coloring, and the way the blues melt into the greens. Thank you.

Oh, that's just *gorgeous*. I love it to little itty bitty pieces. The light, the coloring, the surface of the ocean from below, the outline of Atlantis at the top.

Wow. Just. Wow.

I love it!! I really love the little Atlantis silhouette at the top of the frame - very creative! :D

/worked with marine mammals
//must go read!

I really like the outline of the city and the way the sunlight is filtered through the water. Pretty.

Oh, lovely. I love the effects of light you have filtering down through the water. Also, I've found sometimes that coloring, especially with water, look impressive on thumbnails and then I get disappointed when I click on the full image, but this has no such problems. The dolphins and the way you've shown Atlantis look really great too. Gorgeous.

Wow! Your watercolor technique is made of mightiness! And I love the way you worked the Atlantis towers into the "frame" of the picture. :-)

It looks like watercolor but this is all acrylics... I'd just bought three new tubes of cerulean, manganese, and turquoise, good timing. I'd planned to mix them with watercolor and ecoline, but I could get all the effects I wanted with just the acrylics. Never knew they're so versatile.

Ooh, beautifully done! I'm amazed as always.

Cute! Rodney looks so grumpy, and John is smirking!

This is so clever and beautiful!

That is so cool!

I love it :)

*flails arms* This is so gorgeous! ♥!!!

Oh, THAT is beautiful. Wow.

Just lovely; beautiful colors and imagery.

That was just a great subject matter... can't really go wrong with dolphins. :)

This is so pretty! I love the light shining down through the water, and Atlantis as the horizon, rising up out of the sea so that it's part of the sea, too.

I'm still mighty pleased with that myself... I got the idea while I was sketching the animals.

Oh, that is very very beautiful!

awesome! really beautiful. I love the Atlantis sketched at the top...

(BTW, I'd love to see what you'd do with Leah's Penguin-fic too!)

Yeah, those penguins must be fun to draw, too. Maybe I'll get a flash of an idea.

I just re-read Leah's story. That fic couldn't be any cuter, and the last line is so perfect.

I love it! The city silhouette is so cool and the coloring is just beautiful.

That's utterly beautiful. The lights, silhouette of Atlantis, colors, and John!dolphin's smile and Rodney!dolphin's turned down corner of mouth - perfect. Wow wow.

I'm thrilled you like it. And heh, it's weird how people can actually see who's who in that pic.

Beautifully done! the city outline, the rays of light, the colors... everything! just lovely!

Beautiful colours. I love the spare graphic novel look to the art. The light through the water is spectacular!

I'm glad you like it.

I love the spare graphic novel look to the art.

One of my favorite art styles. :)

I love how the debris has the same curves of the dolphins.

Huh. It does. I never noticed...

This is beautiful. I love the way you've got Atlantis up at the top as a continuation of the sunlight on the water. There are so many amazingly talented people in this fandom!

There must be something in the water, it's really amazing. I don't remember even being in a fandom where there are so many other people doing actual illustration, not just manips. (Nothing against manips, but it's just not what I'm primarily interested in.) It's hella inspiring to see all this other artwork.
